Building Klau in the Open, Week 6: A Dispatch Scorecard for Coaching

Week 6 of building Klau in the open.

What does a D+ in dispatching cost you?

The scorecard I built last week is now a coaching tool inside Klau. Load your human-dispatched days from an external system or upload a CSV. Klau scores each day and each driver, tracks trends over time, and shows you what it would have done instead.

A coaching dashboard with a February 2026 calendar and a scorecard for February 9 showing a D+ grade, an overall score of 68, Yard Trip Efficiency 57, Route Compactness 74, and Service Productivity 87, for 2 drivers and 9 jobs

A scorecard in the coaching dashboard. Yard Trip Efficiency is the weakest score.

See the D+ in the screenshot? Yard Trip Efficiency is 57. That means drivers are making avoidable trips back to the yard. Each one costs 20 to 30 minutes of productivity. Multiply that across a week, a month, a year.

The score isn't a judgment. It's a starting point. Now you know where to coach.

This is functionality I'm comfortable putting in front of more people. It's safe. If Klau hits an edge case or makes a questionable call, nobody gets sent on a wild goose chase. That is much lower risk than letting Klau run live dispatching before it is ready for production.

One thing surprises people: Klau is fully algorithmic. No LLMs. No AI models. I value results that are repeatable and fast, with no external dependencies. If AI agents go down, Klau keeps dispatching.

Thanks to everyone following along and reaching out. I want to change this industry again.

What would your dispatch score be?
